The court and the serve

Singles uses the inner sidelines; doubles uses the outer sidelines. A ball touching a line is generally in. Each point begins with a serve from behind the baseline into the diagonally opposite service box.

A missed first serve allows a second attempt. If that also faults, the server loses the point. Practise accuracy at a comfortable pace before adding speed.
