Serve and two-bounce rule

Serve diagonally into the opposite service court. A standard volley serve has motion and contact requirements; a drop serve is also allowed. Each server gets one serve attempt.

Under the two-bounce rule, the receiving team lets the serve bounce before returning it, and the serving team lets that return bounce. After those two bounces, either side may volley or play after a bounce, subject to the other rules.
